Clarify is a recipe manager built around one annoyance: finding the recipe on a page that is mostly everything else. Paste a link and it pulls out just the ingredients and steps. Make an account and you can save, edit and organize recipes in your own library.
Most recipe sites publish their recipe as structured schema.org JSON-LD data for search engines. Clarify reads that data with Cheerio, normalizes it, and stores ingredients and instructions in their own tables so they stay easy to edit. The backend is NestJS with separate extraction and recipes modules, talking to PostgreSQL through Prisma. The frontend is React and TypeScript.
Everything is containerized with Docker and live on the internet: the frontend on Vercel, the backend on Render as a web service, and the database on Supabase. A real URL and real accounts, not a localhost demo.
I moved from MySQL to PostgreSQL, picked NestJS partly because it feels like the Spring Boot and Hibernate world I came from, and got to untangle Prisma 7’s new config requirements.
